Bonjour to all our babely readers, Izzy here with a new tutorial that is close to my heart and my astrological sign! Gemini, or the twins, is the sign of those born between the end of May and the end of June. We are known to be independent, intelligent, imaginative and unfortunately, a wee bit two-sided. But that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This makeup tutorial focuses on the two sides of the Gemini, channeled into a “Vices” look with a mirrored “Virtues” look in the form of the classic technique known as the “smokey eye.”

For this makeup, I used:

FOR THE DARK SIDE OF LIFE

FIRST:

After prepping my eyes with my Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion in Champagne, I buffed a deep purple shade all around my eye, bringing the hue to the outer corners of my eyelid.

SECOND:

Taking the Kat Von D eyeshadow in “Stockholm,” I spread the beautiful metallic blue all over the top of the purple, condensing the heaviest section of pigment in the center of my eye.

THIRD:

Using a gunmetal grey or a black tone (I used the shade “Siouxsie Sioux”), I packed the dark shadow into the outer corners of my eyes, making a “V” shape, and carried it into my crease to add depth.

FOURTH:

To highlight, I used a more condensed brush and a shimmery white sparkle.

FIFTH:

Using a blending brush, I softened the colors and blended them together, sweeping the darker tones underneath my eye and out towards my temple, creating that “smokey” look. A flick of black liquid eyeliner and black soft pencil on my waterline is all the penciling you need.

After you’re all finished, apply generous amounts of mascara and lipstick. For this look, I chose to do a dark ombre lip.

The finished “Vices” Look! I attempted to channel the early 20’s “vamp” look overall.

FOR THE LIGHT SIDE OF LIFE

FIRST:

I swept a light gold shimmer over the entirety of my eyelid, including underneath the waterline.

SECOND:

Using a dark brown shade, I darkened the outer corners of my eyes in the same “V” shape as before, and with a more pigmented gold color, I intensified the look.

Using a shimmery light champagne color, I highlighted my tear ducts and inner corners of my eyes, opening the eye up.

FOURTH:

First with a dark brown soft pencil, I outlined my eyelid and waterline. Then, I went back in with liquid black liner and gave the eye a soft flick at the corner.

FIFTH:

Using a red color and a light pink color, I did the same slight ombre tone to my lips, dark in the corners, light in the middle.

Now coat the lashes with mascara, pencil your brows in lightly, and add whatever blush or contouring makeup you want!

The final “virtues” look!

I hope this helped anybody looking for some fun new makeup ideas! Next time I might do a half and half face just to see how it looks! Whether you consider yourself the “good” or the “bad” twin, we all have a little of both inside us, and playing around with makeup sure does bring them out!
