It is June 15th, 1962, approximately one week before school lets out. Your name is Susan Shirley. You have three best friends who all live within 3 blocks from you, and 12 minutes away from the beach by foot. On most Fridays you all go to the Drive-in to buy cherry cokes and cruise to the roller rink downtown in your older brother’s red woodie. You talk about how boring your small town is, yet in retrospect, when you think back to this memory thirty years from now, you realize that these years were the greatest times of your life. You don’t know it yet, but you couldn’t have spent these years any better. As you tilt your head back and let the wind blow your hair back in the front seat of your borrowed car, this is what you’re listening to.
