It’s safe to say that my bedroom, as to many others, is a safe haven. For the longest time I had to share a room with my younger sister and this year, finally, I was able to move into my own. If I’m being 150% honest with you guys, I really didn’t mind sharing a room. I just wanted my own room to finally bring to life all these decorating ideas I’ve been collecting for years!! I still have a few things to add and tweak, but it’s my own little piece of heaven on Earth.
I am OBSESSED with my night stand. All the things I placed on it are near and dear to my heart, and I wanted to keep them as close to me as possible. “A Crackup at the Race Riots” by Harmony Korine and “Full Moon” by Dougal Butler have been my top two favorite books since I was in the sixth grade and I catch myself rereading them all the time. I also have my beloved framed Zayn Malik photo! I got it as a gift from a coworker, uhh best gift EVER?! I also like keeping my one box of makeup there, why? I don’t know. I guess to remind myself to put on makeup before I leave but that never works. And last but not least, my Danny Brown earrings are always on display for all to see! If there’s one thing you should know about me is that I LOVE Danny Brown. A little bit too much…actually not. The limit does not exist.
And as for what’s under my night stand? I kind of hoard magazines, specifically Rolling Stone and Spin. I was given a year subscription to both mags two or three years ago for Christmas and I just keep renewing it…ah. These are only a few random ones I picked out, trust me when I say I have way too many. They’re going to overtake my room one day.
The view over my bed. I plastered the wall with random posters that come with vinyls, flyers from shows, and some of my little art pieces. I also have a small collection of Olivia related things. Why? Because I LOVE that show! Seriously, not only is it the cutest thing, it’s so empowering for girls to watch! Olivia isn’t made out to be the “perfect little girl” with one strong interest. Nope! She’s interested in whatever she wants and changes her mind constantly. She’s all over the place. I always related to that little piglet.
And now on to where the magic happens…my good ol’, beat up desk! It’s my one favorite areas of my room. I can sit here for hours uninterupted and be at my happiest. I always keep that Lou Reed issue of Rolling Stone handy. Weird fact, I have yet to read it. I CAN’T DO IT! I also like to keep some of my pins out. Today it’s some rad ones from Pulp Girls, Tessa, and etc.
A zoom in. I am seriously going to cry just looking at it. Oh yeah, I also collect hand sanitizers. Again, I don’t know why. I hid some so it wouldn’t look too excessive…sigh.
In the brief moments in time when I’m not writing, watching Molly Ringwald movies, or painting, I like to not know what I’m doing and play these two games. I had to share with you guys because it’s so funny. Just between us…they’ve stayed in this position for almost a month! Whoops.
And the wall overlooking my desk. My wall of inspiration! The Who have been my all time favorite band since as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to them and with can relate every one of their songs to some moment in my life. They will always own a big chunk of my heart. But guess what, my Who covered walls don’t end here….
BAM! It continues onto the next wall with this huge tapestry. Now whenever I look at any of my walls, I’m guaranteed a smile on my face.
And behold, my baby record collection. I’ve been wanting to collect vinyl for so long but never had the funds. Now that I do, you can bet that most of my money goes to these babies.
And here I am in my natural habitat, surrounded by all the things I love and find inspiring, watching a chick flick (fyi: it’s 13 Going On 30), and not caring about anything else! I love that our rooms say so much about ourselves, what we’ve lived through, our interests, etc. And all while looking so magical!!
Thank you so much to Audrey and Candy for showing us around their rooms! Do you have a stellar room to show us? If so, email email@example.com to be featured on…The Bedroom Files!~Montgomery Jone
